Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
FadeOut ("we", "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data We Collect
FadeOut collects the minimum data necessary to function:
- Settings and site list — your chosen sites, effect settings, blocked keywords (Pro), schedule settings, and preferences are stored in Chrome's built-in sync storage (
chrome.storage.sync). This data is managed entirely by Chrome and may sync across your devices if you are signed into Chrome. - Time-on-site data — daily and weekly time totals for each targeted site are stored locally on your device (
chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device. - Session state — a temporary record of which browser tabs have active blocking is held in Chrome's session storage (
chrome.storage.session). This is cleared automatically when the browser closes and is never transmitted anywhere. - Email address (Pro users only) — if you purchase a Pro plan, your email address is stored in Chrome sync storage solely to verify your subscription status. It is used only to query our payment processor (Stripe) when checking whether your license is still active.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not track which sites you visit. The extension checks the current tab's URL locally on your device to determine whether it matches a site you have added — this check never leaves your browser.
- We do not collect browsing history, page content, keystrokes, or any other personal information.
- We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party monitoring tools.
- We do not sell or share your data with any third party.
3. Network Requests
FadeOut makes network requests only in the following circumstances:
- Pro license activation — when you complete a purchase, your Stripe session ID is sent to our verification server to confirm payment and activate your license.
- Pro license re-validation — once every 7 days, your email address is sent to our verification server to confirm your subscription is still active. This does not happen for Lifetime plan holders or free users.
Our verification server does not log or store your email beyond the duration of the request. No other network requests are made by the extension.
4. Third-Party Services
- Stripe — used to process payments. Stripe's own Privacy Policy governs how they handle your payment information. We do not store credit card numbers.
- Cloudflare — our verification server runs on Cloudflare Workers. Requests are processed in Cloudflare's infrastructure. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
All data stored by FadeOut exists in your Chrome profile or on your local device. You can delete it at any time by:
- Uninstalling the FadeOut extension (removes all local and sync storage).
- Using the "Clear all data" option inside the extension's settings panel.
To request deletion of any email data held by our verification server, email us at fadeoutadmin@fadeout-extention.com and we will delete it within 7 days.
6. Children's Privacy
FadeOut is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
